A Real-World Take on Freightliner Trucks

The Freightliner Trucks “Slice of Life” program was launched in 2009 as a means of introducing to North America the then-new Freightliner Cascadia and Detroit Diesel DD15 engine combination. The program placed real-world owner-operators behind the wheel and asked them to provide feedback on their over-the-road experiences with the truck. Through a dedicated website each driver shares their adventures with the trucking public in the form of a weekly interactive blog.

Educating Owner-Operators

In its initial season, the Slice of Life program played a significant role in educating North America’s business focused owner-operators on the unparalleled benefits of the Cascadia and helped Freightliner Trucks quickly attain the number one position among aerodynamic on-highway trucks.

Through the program, three owner-operators were each provided a Slice of Life in a custom 2010 Freightliner Cascadia^® truck equipped with a 2010 Detroit Diesel DD15^® engine, featuring BlueTec^® emissions technology. The combination of the Cascadia—one of the most aerodynamic trucks on the road today—and the powerful and efficient DD15 engine delivers impressive fuel economy.

Now, with season 2 of the Freightliner Trucks Slice of Life program well under way, the participating drivers are universally raving about the significant fuel efficiencies they have been enjoying.
